The first tip is to avoid using creams that have unhealthy ingredients. Women are obsessed with creams, whether they are hand lotions, face moisturizers or even hair removal creams. And even though a number of them are great for making your skin look and feel better, some can do more harm than good.

Using natural skin care solutions is a good idea. But if you use something that has been manufactured in a laboratory, make sure there are no nasty substances that can actually damage your skin. A number of companies include ingredients in their products that are not only unnecessary, but actually have an adverse affect on you. They may be cheap, smell good or simply just get put in for no good reason. Here are ingredients you should avoid:

1. Alcohols – Alcohol dries out your skin and can lead to infection or irritation. It can also make your skin look older and strips away natural protection on the surface. Steer clear of products that contain alcohol.

2. Fragrances – When you think of fragrances you think of sweet smells, with no negative connotations attached to them. However they are made from toxic ingredients and even though they can make a skin care product smell nice, you do not want them absorbed into your skin. You should target products that have natural scents.

3. Mineral Oil – This substance is consistently used in many skin care products, for the reason that it is cheap. Again, people do not associated mineral oil with being bad or damaging however it can clog your skin pores, causing irritation and even acne. Mineral oil reduces your body’s ability to get rid of toxins, so extensive use can be harmful. It is also known as paraffin wax, so look out for it, and steer clear.

4. Parabens – These are used as preservatives in skin care products and helps them last longer. However their obvious effects are allergies and skin irritations. Less obvious is their link to cancer, as studies have shown they may influence carcogenic effects on the endocrine system. Parabens may increase the shelf life of a product, but at what cost?

As you can see, beauty skin care products aren’t always healthy and natural and can contain harmful ingredients. Look after your skin (and health as a whole) by avoiding these and only using natural products.
